marcoMy interest in photography started when I grew up. In the beginning all new impressions were captured, especially on the first independent travels. A SLR with slide film and a few fixed focal lenght lenses were my equipment at that time.

During and after my University time I was on several trips to Asia and the US together with my former girl friend and today's wife Barbara. This layed the foundation for my focus on travel photography. With normal work life starting afterwards, and the birth of my two daughters, photography became a less important subject temporarily.

Over the last years I have started again to be a dedicated photographer. In the meantime the documentary content of a picture is not any longer the objective. Instead I try to create impact on the observer with my pictures. This impact can be manifold: emotions, harmonies or tension, but also contrasts in content or appearance. To seize the instance, to create consciousness about it's pecularity is my objective now.

Recently I have gained interest in analog Black and White photography. With the help of our local Photo Club and the recommendations of the experienced members there, but also due to the darkroom facilities available, this subject has developed into a very intensive activity for me. Black and White Photography represents a unique and reduced way of seeing and abstraction.

Postprocessing of digital images is only used by me for optimizing crop, brightness and contrast. This is equivalent to the traditional darkroom techniques. I do not reject additional electronic manipulations per se, but I just don't practice them.
